Emotion Coaching:
The importance of feelings for our life path - better understanding important messages from our inner experience

Humans are never without feelings, even if that may be hard to believe. There is no physical and mental state without physical sensations, emotions and feelings. Depending on how strong the ‘arousal’ caused by external or internal stimuli is, they even have a profound behaviour-controlling function and can block thinking or empathy if intense. Dealing skilfully with emotions, especially in stressful or crisis situations, is the aim of active emotion regulation. Many people tend to avoid unpleasant emotions, try to ignore them, run away from them, fight them, suppress them with all their might or simply ignore them. This usually leads to emotional blockages as well as avoidance and protective behaviour.
As a result, emotions only come knocking at the door even more, as they are carriers of important messages that point us to deeper inner processes. They also influence our perception and make our world sometimes lighter, sometimes darker. We often don't even realise when we identify strongly with our feelings, we are then angry, we are then afraid or angry. This creates a vicious circle of drama and excessive demands from which we need to escape. Feelings and stress triggers can weigh life down if we don't understand their message and instead get stuck in a carousel of thoughts and ruminations.
The consequences: We don't achieve our goals, remain trapped in unpleasant states and, in the worst case, give up. This is where emotion coaching comes in to help you get close to your real challenges and start with the emotions that stress or tempt you the most.
How emotion coaching can help
Release blockages and find clarity
Professional emotion coaching offers targeted support to release emotional blockages and regain self-regulation. It works on different levels, depending on individual needs. Emotion coaching looks very closely at the level at which the problem is being experienced. The journey together can take place at the level of
-
your sense of belonging (‘Do I feel accepted/belonging or rejected/excluded?’),
-
your identity (‘Where is my life journey taking me?’) or
-
your beliefs (‘I am not enough’).
-
Biographical stress and specific situations from the past can also play a role.
-
even pleasure temptations (chocolate, too much X...) can be focussed on for change.
Emotion coaching helps to release emotional blockages, tap into sources of strength and find new ways of self-regulation. The most important aspect: rediscovering and strengthening your own hope, confidence and curiosity about yourself.
